5 Easy Ways To Beat Sugar Cravings

Those chocolates in the fridge call me at midnight, oh! those mithai boxes I receive on diwali beg me to eat them and my favourite desserts get upset if i don’t see them once in the day. But if I do justice to them I do injustice to the newly designed wardrobe of mine which I just stocked up with my favourite clothes. Well the choice is yours and today I’m going to share some tips and tricks to curb these sweet cravings naturally as these empty calories are definitely not required by us.
BOOST YOUR SEROTONIN
Serotonin, a.k.a. the “happiness hormone,” can be raised through diet, exercise, and the right sleep schedule. When you have plenty of serotonin, you are less likely to have cravings for sweets. So wear those running shoes which are lying in the rack since days and get them to some work. This will always make you look and feel younger and fitter.
REACH FOR FRUIT
Keep fruit handy for when the sugar cravings hit. You will get fiber and nutrients along with some sweetness. Also stock up foods like nuts , seeds, dried fruits to munch on when you feel the craving for sugar. Also anjeer and dates are good options to go natural on sweet cravings though diabetics please consult your dietitian before consumption of these.
DARK CHOCOLATE THE ULTIMATE SAVIOR
Try combining fruits and a square of dark chocolate (over 75%) to stop sugar cravings. “Combine a small square of chocolate with a banana, a cup of strawberries or a peach. “You can even melt the chocolate and drizzle it over the fruit if that helps! But do not grab just any chocolate bar,” “Raw, dark chocolate contains magnesium, which is nature’s best chill pill, as well as essential fibers and B vitamins. This kicks sugar cravings by satisfying your sweet tooth.”
CINNAMOM ALL THE WAY
Cinnamon has been shown in research to help reduce sugar cravings by controlling blood sugar levels. This minimizes insulin spikes after meals that lead to more hunger and consuming even more sugar. Since cinnamon itself is slightly sweet,it can be used instead of sugar in tea, coffee and other preparations. Thus the consumption of sugar itself would decline and reduce the cravings for sugar.
CHEWING GUM
I do this method quite often when I see something of my choice kept and want to avoid it I just pop a gum and keep chewing till my craving goes and it works almost every time so worth a try.Disclaimer: The opinions expressed in this post are the personal views of the author.
